| Prayer
is Like... |
Prayer is like writing a letter:
Before you've finished the "letter," you already feel
better.
(Philippians 4: 6-7)
Prayer is like a telephone call:
You speak to God, and God speaks right back to your heart, and
you carry on a conversation, back and forth, until you feel
that you have received sufficient direction.
(Exodus 3- 5: 17; 2 Corinthians 12: 7-10; Acts 18: 4-11; 22:
17-21; Zechariah 13: 9.)
Prayer is like e-mail:
You send God a message, but you have to wait for the reply,
and He just might include an attachment from His Word, or a
forward from somebody else.
(Psalm 27: 14; Isaiah 40: 31; Psalm 30: 5; Psalm 62: 1-2; Romans
10: 17)
Prayer is like a counseling session:
You relax your body and pour out your heart to God, and the
peaceful, loving presence of the Wonderful Counselor helps you
come to your own conclusions.
(Psalm 55: 22; Romans 15: 13; 1 Peter 5:7)
Prayer is like a hug:
You cry out to God with painful emotions, and you feel the divine
embrace which doesn't necessarily solve your problems but gives
you the strength and peace to face them.
(Philippians 4: 6-7; Psalm 40: 1)
Prayer is like stopping and asking for directions:You only do
it when you are really lost, tired of looking silly, and tired
of wasting time, and men are the last to do it.
(Psalm 18: 3-6, 16; Psalm 32: 3-9; Psalm 51; Psalm 53: 1)
