Here's what the Bible says about the Sources of Suffering.
The Bible reveals several sources of human suffering...
1.) Suffering as a consequence from the Fall of Adam and Eve
in the Garden of Eden. When sin entered the world, pain, sorrow,
conflict, and eventual death invaded the lives of all human
beings - Genesis 3: 16-19. The New Testament affirms the same
belief - Romans 5: 12.
Our response - Romans 5: 17 and 6: 23.
2.) Suffering as a consequence of our own actions. We reap
what we sow, - Galatians 6: 7-8.
3.) God uses suffering as a discipline - Hebrews 12: 7-13.
Our response - Hebrews 12: 1-3
4.) Suffering as a consequence of living in a corrupt, sinful
world. All around us are the effects of sin -
Romans 3:10-18, 2 Timothy 3: 1-9.
Our response - Ephesians 4: 17-32.
5.) Suffering as a consequence of the devils attacks.
God allowed the satan to inflict Job - Job chs.1-2. The devil
became the god of this world - 2 Corinthians 4:
4.
Our response - Matthew 4: 1-11.
6.) Suffering as a consequence being like Jesus Christ. Christians
suffer for doing good - 1 Peter 4: 12-16. Christians weep
with those who weep, - Romans 12: 15.
Our response - Acts 5: 40-42.
7.) Suffering as a means of testing our faith. God uses hard
times to test the authenticity of our faith -
1 Peter 1: 3-9.
Our response - James 1: 2-4.
8.) Suffering as a means of displaying the power of God.
Jesus said man born blind would show Gods power - John
9: 1-3.
Our response - James 5: 13-16.
Know that God is always with you and will not let you have
more than you can bear, but His strength is made perfect in
weakness (2 Cor. 12: 9). Call upon Him in prayer, and pour
out your heart to your Wondeful Counselor. Healing awaits
you!
